KATANA FRET LEVELING SYSTEM is a precision tool designed for leveling the frets—or even the fretboard itself—under real string tension, whether the neck is straight or bowed. It delivers the highest level of accuracy by allowing you to level with the neck in its actual playing state, tuned to pitch, with the correct relief. This ensures that only the necessary amount of fret material is removed, maintaining the original fret height wherever possible.
With Katana, you can perform fret leveling either on your workbench or with the instrument held in its playing position, achieving consistent results in both cases. The choice is yours.
Katana can be used straight, or it can be adjusted to match the existing relief of the neck. This makes it possible not only to level accurately, but also to refine or imprint the ideal progressive curve that naturally follows the geometry required by string vibration for optimal playability.
The system includes:
– A special string raiser to unlock the tool’s movement when needed, without disturbing the neck’s balance
– Three custom gauges (an original Rectify Master concept) to accurately match the tool to the neck’s relief
– Preloaded #320 grit abrasive plus a refill roll
The complete operation can take just a few minutes.
This ultra-innovative system is a RECTIFYMASTER exclusive, developed to push fret leveling to a new level of speed, precision, and repeatability.
This system, along with its adjustable design and working method, is covered by the following patents for invention:
– USA: US9224369B2
– Europe: EP2608194B1 (UK, DE, FR, IT)
– Japan: JP5938783B2
*Katana R.S.B.B. (Relief – Straight – BackBow)
The R.S.B.B. version of the Katana includes, besides the standard relief adjustment, an additional back-bow option.
